Bradford Richardson and his Cat

Bradford Richardson and his Cat

Just received this email from screenwriter Bradford Richardson:

“As you know, SAVE THE CAT was a major epiphany for me.

This past spring I used your Beat Sheet to rework a favorite old script of mine, the coming-of-age Actioner, EVEL LIKE KNIEVEL, based on actual events.

The logline is: Summer of ‘74. Twin Falls rebel, Kyle, makes a wild leap into manhood after Evel Knievel awards him with a security job behind the scenes of his Snake Canyon River Jump. When the event expands beyond Woodstock proportions, and a riotous gang of bikers threatens to destroy Evel’s Skycycle, Kyle comes up with the plan that saves the day.

I just found out that EVEL LIKE KNIEVEL has been chosen as a Second Rounder in the 2008 Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition. Maybe this is the heat which will help me find a manager and agent.

THANK YOU… and your Cat!”

    Wow,Brad :)

I got so carried away I had to say Congrats twice :)

    CONGRATS! APPLAUSE!! BRAVO!

  4. David Ball Says:

Congrats, Brad. And good luck to you. I’m a semi-finalist in Austin. And, I too used “Save the Cat” to restructure my script. Thanks to the Cat, my sci-fi comedy, “Chuck Hodges Conquers the Universe” made it to the semi’s in PAGE International and FinalDraft Big Break as well.

I just got the sad news today that I didn’t make it to the finals in Big Break. I was only ten scripts away from getting read by Blake! Waaah!(:

  5. Bradford Richardson Says:

Debbie, where would I be without your support. You’re the best!

  6. Bradford Richardson Says:

David: virtual High-Five! Good luck too. Great script title. Being Semi-Finalists puts us on the radar, offers that kick of validation and creates non-stalker opportunities to meet people who might actually hire us, not as landscapers, house painters or baristas but as screenwriters. Keep the faith. Oh, let’s swap sci-fi scripts: bradfordrich@earthlink.net

  7. David Ball Says:

Brad, would love to swap scripts. I’m traveling but will send “Chuck” this weekend. My email address is dball@maine.rr.com . Are you going to Austin?
